I will be a father to him, and he will be a son to Me. If he commits iniquity, I will correct him with the rod of men and with the strokes from sons of men.


Behold, happy is the one whom God corrects, so do not despise the discipline of Shaddai.


Remove Your scourge from me. I perish by the blow of Your hand.

I have become a stranger to my brothers, a foreigner to my mother’s children.


He who chastens nations, will He not rebuke— One who teaches humanity knowledge?


Stern correction awaits one who forsakes the way. One who hates reproof will die.


Whoever avoids correction despises himself, but whoever heeds reproof acquires understanding.


Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child, but a rod of discipline will drive it far from him.


Adonai, they sought You in distress, they poured out a whispered prayer when Your discipline was upon them.


Chasten me, Adonai, but with justice, not in Your anger, lest You reduce me to nothing.


“In vain I struck your children. They took no correction. Your sword devoured your prophets like a ravaging lion.”


For I am with you,” declares Adonai, “to save you, for I will make a full end of all the nations where I scatter you. but I will not make a full end of you. For I will discipline you justly, but will not leave you unpunished.”


For after I returned, I repented, and after that I was instructed, I struck my thigh— I was ashamed and also humiliated, for I bore the disgrace of my youth.’


So you will say to them, ‘This nation has not obeyed the voice of Adonai their God or received correction. Truth has perished and is cut off from their mouth.


She did not obey; she took no correction. She did not trust in Adonai. She did not draw near to her God.


Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps.


His disciples remembered that it is written, “Zeal for your House will consume Me!”


Do not be lagging in zeal; be fervent in spirit. Keep serving the Lord,


But when we are judged, we are being disciplined by the Lord so that we might not be condemned along with the world.


as unknown and yet well-known; as dying, yet behold, we live; as disciplined yet not put to death;


For see what this very thing—this grieving that God wills—has brought you! What diligence, what defense, what indignation, what fear, what longing, what zeal, what rendering of justice! In everything you have proved yourselves to be innocent in this matter.


To be courted is good, but let it always be in a good way—and not just when I am there with you.


Now you know in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so Adonai your God disciplines you.


He gave Himself for us so that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and so that He might purify for Himself a chosen people, zealous for good deeds.


Happy is the one who endures testing, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord promised to those who love Him.


Remember then from where you have fallen. Repent and do the deeds you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your menorah from its place—unless you repent.
