Thus Shimei said as he cursed, “Get out, get out! The man of bloodshed, the good-for-nothing!


Now there was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year, so David sought the face of Adonai. Adonai replied, “It is because of Saul and his bloody house, for he put the Gibeonites to death.”


If only You would slay the wicked, O God! Away from me, you bloody men!


Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and sustain me with a willing spirit.


Cast your burden on Adonai, and He will sustain you. He will never let the righteous be shaken.


Then you will return and distinguish between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve Him.”


And he will cut him in two and assign his place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”


All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them from one another, just as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.


“Then they too will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not care for You?’


These shall go off to everlasting punishment, but the righteous into everlasting life.”


If anyone rises to pursue you and seek your life, then let my lord’s life be bound up in the bundle of the living—with Adonai your God. But let the soul of your enemies be hurled away as from the hollow of a sling.
