So he went and got them, and brought them to his mother, and his mother prepared a delicious meal that his father would love.


But the man of God said to the king: “Even if you give me half your house, I will not go with you nor will I eat bread or drink water in this place.


And he said: ‘I will go and be a deceiving spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ Then He said: ‘You shall entice him and shall prevail also—go and do so.’


May He incline our hearts to Him, to walk in all His ways and to keep His mitzvot, His statutes and His ordinances, which He commanded our fathers.


Turn my heart to Your testimonies and not to dishonest gain.


Do not drag me away with the wicked and with doers of iniquity, who speak peace with their neighbors, while evil is in their hearts.


Adonai, why do You cause us to stray from Your ways, and harden our heart from fearing You? Return for Your servants’ sake, the tribes of Your heritage.


Then they invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, so the people were eating, and bowing down before their gods.


And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’


Therefore, whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.


Do not be deceived! “Bad company corrupts good morals.”
