By the sweat of your brow will you eat food, until you return to the ground, since from it were you taken. For you are dust, and to dust will you return.”


Remember You fashioned me like clay; will You return me to dust?


Why do You hide Your face and consider me Your enemy?


“But if He is quiet, who can condemn Him? If He hides His face, who can see Him? Yet He is over a nation and an individual alike,


His breath departs, he returns to his dust. In that very day his plans perish.


When I felt secure, I said: “I will never be shaken.”


You turn mankind back to dust, saying, “Return, children of Adam!”


Then the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.


Nor is He served by human hands, as if He needed anything, since He Himself gives to everyone life and breath and all things.


Then My anger will flare against them on that day, and I will abandon them and hide My face from them. So they will be devoured, and many evils and troubles will come on them. They will say on that day, ‘Isn’t it because our God is not among us that these evils have come on us?’
