When words abound, transgression is unavoidable. but whoever restrains his lips is wise.


One who is slow to anger shows great understanding, but a quick-tempered one exalts folly.


A righteous heart thinks before answering, but a wicked mouth blurts out evil things.


Better to be slow to anger than a mighty warrior. One who controls his temper is better than one who conquers a city.


The words of the wise heard in quiet are better than a ruler’s shout among fools.


Know this, my dear brothers and sisters: let every person be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger—


And the fruit of righteousness is sown in shalom by those who make shalom.


For we all stumble in many ways. If someone does not stumble in speech, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well.
