All the king’s servants who were at the king’s gate bowed down and paid honor to Haman, for the king had commanded it. But Mordecai would not bow down or pay him honor.


They despise me; they keep their distance from me; they do not hesitate to spit in my face.


Then all his brothers, all his sisters and everyone who had known him before, came to him and ate bread with him in his house. They consoled him and comforted him for all the calamity that Adonai had brought upon him. Each of them gave him a piece of money and a gold ring.


The wealth of a rich man is a strong city. Poverty is the ruin of the poor.


Wealth adds many friends, yet a poor man is deserted by his friend.
