“Will evildoers never understand— those who consume My people as they eat bread— and never call on Adonai?”


When evildoers approached me to devour my flesh —my adversaries and my foes— they stumbled and fell.


There is a generation whose teeth are swords and whose molars are knives, to devour the poor from the earth and the needy from among humanity.


Adonai will enter into judgment with the elders of His people and with the princes: “You have devoured the vineyard. The plunder of the poor is in your houses.


What do you mean by crushing My people and grinding the face of the poor?” says Adonai Elohei-Tzva’ot.


who say, ‘This is not the time to build houses! This city is the cooking pot and we are the meat!’


Gather the pieces into it, every good piece —thigh and shoulder. Fill it with the choice bones.


Hear this, you who trample the poor, destroying the afflicted of the land


But recently My people arose as an enemy. You strip off the outer robe of a garment from those passing through confidently— those returning from war.


Her princes within her are roaring lions. Her judges are wolves of the night, leaving nothing but bones for morning.
