Then he said, “I saw all Israel scattered on the hills, as sheep without a shepherd. Then Adonai said, ‘These have no master; let each of them return home in peace.’”


So he said, “I saw all Israel scattered on the hills like sheep without a shepherd, and Adonai said, ‘These have no master—let each man return home in shalom.”


It will be like a hunted gazelle, or like sheep with no one gathering. Each will return to his own people, each will flee to his own country.


My people have been lost sheep. Their shepherds led them astray. Turning around in the mountains, they went from mountain to hill, and forgot their resting place.


The idols utter deceit and diviners see lies. They relate false dreams and comfort in vain. Therefore the people wander like sheep, afflicted because there is no shepherd.


For behold, I am going to raise up a shepherd in the land who will not care for the dying, seek out the young or heal the injured or nourish the healthy. Instead he will eat the meat of the choice sheep, even tearing off their hoofs.”

As Yeshua came ashore, He saw a large crowd and felt compassion for them and healed their sick.


But He responded, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”


Yeshua called His disciples and said, “I have compassion for the crowd, because they’ve stayed with Me for three days now and have nothing to eat. I don’t want to send them away hungry, because they might pass out on the way.”


As Yeshua came ashore, He saw a large crowd and felt compassion for them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So He taught them many things.

For we do not have a kohen gadol who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all the same ways—yet without sin.


He is able to empathize with the ignorant and deluded, since he himself also is subject to weakness.
