Prompted by her mother, she said, “Give me the head of John the Immerser, here on a platter!”


In those days, John the Immerser came proclaiming in the wilderness of Judea,


She left the room and said to her mother, “What should I ask for?” Her mother said, “The head of John the Immerser!”


The king became very sorrowful; but because of his oaths and those reclining with him, he didn’t want to refuse her.


Their feet are swift to shed blood.
