The kohanim agreed that they would take no more money from the people, nor would they repair the damage of the House.


But the ruling kohanim took the silver pieces and said, “It is not permitted to put these in the treasury, since it is blood money.”


Then a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, worth less than a penny.


He spoke these words in the treasury while teaching in the Temple, but no one arrested Him because His hour had not yet come.
