Thus says Adonai: “Write this man childless, a man who will not prosper in his days. For no man of his seed will prosper, sitting on the throne of David and ruling again in Judah.”


You are not to uncover the nakedness of your father’s brother by approaching his wife, for she is your aunt.


If a man takes his brother’s wife, it is an impurity. He has uncovered his brother’s nakedness, and they will be childless.


“Adonai has done this for me! In these days He looked upon me, to take away my disgrace among the people.”


But they were childless, because Elizabeth was barren and both of them were elderly.


For indeed, the days are coming when they will say, ‘Blessed are barren, and the wombs that never gave birth, and the breasts that did not feed.’
