“So now, our God—the great, mighty and awesome God, who keeps covenant and mercy—do not let all the hardship that has befallen us seem insignificant to you—our kings, our leaders, our kohanim, our prophets, our ancestors and all Your people, from the time of the kings of Assyria to this day.


Remember, my life is but a breath; my eyes will not see goodness again!


A Song of Ascents. Adonai, remember David, all his afflictions,


How long, Adonai, will You hide Yourself? Forever? Will Your fury keep burning like fire?


Where is Your former lovingkindness, my Lord, which You swore to David in Your faithfulness?


“Why are we sitting here? Assemble! Let us flee to the fortified cities and perish there! For Adonai Eloheinu has silenced us and given us poisoned water to drink. For we have sinned against Adonai.


I will scatter them among the nations whom neither they nor their fathers have known. I will pursue them with the sword, until I have finished with them.”


He has filled me with bitterness and made me drink wormwood.


He has besieged me and surrounded me with bitterness and hardship.
