For the company of the godless is barren, and fire consumes the tents of bribery.


He is torn from the security of his tent, and marched off to the king of terrors.


For you ask, ‘Where is the nobleman’s house and the tent where the wicked lived?’


He does not keep the wicked alive, but gives justice to the afflicted.


Is not their tent cord pulled out, so that they die without wisdom.’”


Why do You not pardon my transgression, and take away my iniquity? For now I will lie down in the dust, and You will search for me, but I will be gone.”


He leans against his house but it does not stand, He holds fast to it, but it does not hold up.


If he is uprooted from his place, it denies him saying, ‘I never saw you.’


My accusers will be clothed in disgrace, and wrapped in shame as in a cloak.


His enemies I will clothe with shame, but upon himself his crown will shine.”


May they be ashamed and humiliated, those who rejoice over my misery. May they who exalt themselves over me be clothed with shame and disgrace.


The house of the wicked will be demolished, but the tent of the upright will flourish.


Then all the princes of the sea will come down from their thrones. They will cast aside their robes. They will take off their richly woven garments; they will clothe themselves with trembling; they will sit on the ground. They will tremble every moment and be appalled at you.


The king will mourn. The prince will be clothed with despair. The hands of the people of the land will tremble. By their conduct I will deal with them. By their own standards I will judge them. Then they will know that I am Adonai.”


“I will send it out”—it is a declaration of Adonai-Tzva’ot—“and it will enter into the house of the thief and into the house of the one who swears falsely by My Name and will reside inside his house destroying it, both its wood and its stones.”


Likewise, you younger ones, submit yourselves to the elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
