I will say to God, ‘Do not condemn me; tell me why You contend with me.’


Still, I desire to speak to Shaddai and to argue my case with God.


I would lay out my case before Him and fill my mouth with arguments.


“As God lives, who has deprived me of justice, Shaddai who has made my soul bitter,


Why is light given to one who suffers and life to the bitter of soul,


Why is light given to a man whose way is hidden, and whom God has hedged in?


You have turned on me cruelly; You attack me with the might of Your hand.


O, that I had someone to hear me! Look, here is my signature, let Shaddai answer me, let the accuser write the indictment!


Why do you contend against Him that He does not answer all His words.


Now gird up your loins like a man; I will question you, and you will inform Me!


Then Adonai answered Job, saying:


Then Job answered Adonai. He said:


Am I a sea, or a monster of the deep that You have set a watch over me?


If anyone wished to contend with Him, he could not answer Him once in a thousand.


Whatever exists has already been named, and it has been made known what humanity is. But man cannot contend with the One who is mightier than he.


With whom did He consult, and who instructed Him? Who taught Him in the path of justice or taught Him knowledge? Who informed Him about the way of understanding?


The One who vindicates Me is near. Who will accuse Me? Let us stand up to each other. Who is My adversary? Let him confront Me.


I set a snare for you, so you were caught, O Babylon, when you were unaware. You were found and also caught, because you challenged Adonai.


“What do you mean by using this proverb in the land of Israel saying, ‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes, so the children’s teeth are set on edge?’


“But when they received it, they began to grumble against the master of the house,


Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? We are not stronger than He, are we?


“who has known the mind of Adonai, that he will instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Messiah.
