Job 20:21

Terrifying sounds are in his ears; in a time of peace, marauders attack him.


He will not become rich, and his wealth will not endure, nor will his possessions spread over the land.


He has no offspring or descendant among his people, no survivor where he once dwelt.


Woe to those who join house to house and merge field to field, until there is no room, and you will live alone in the midst of the land!


In my ears, Adonai-Tzva’ot has said: “Surely many houses will be desolate— even grand and fine ones— with no occupants.”


As a partridge that broods over young that she did not lay, so is one who gets wealth, unjustly. In the middle of his days it will abandon him, so at his end he will be a fool.


They do not know how to be honest, —declares Adonai— those who are saving up violence and destruction in their citadels.


Therefore thus says my Lord Adonai: “An adversary will surround the land! He will bring down your strength. Your citadels will be plundered
