If my head is held high, You hunt me like a lion, and again work wonders against me.


Why do You hide Your face and consider me Your enemy?


Will You frighten a windblown leaf and chase after dry chaff?


God has handed me over to the ungodly, and tossed me into the hands of the wicked.


“If you say, ‘How we will pursue him, since the root of the matter is found in him;’


then know that God has wronged me and encircled me with His net.


But now, stretch out Your hand and strike his bone and his flesh, and he will certainly curse You to Your face!”


You have turned on me cruelly; You attack me with the might of Your hand.


if anyone in my household has ever said, ‘Who has not been filled with his meat?’


Let their encampment be deserted. Let none dwell in their tents.


For they persecute the one You have smitten, so they tell of the pain of those You have wounded.


Then I will put it into the hand of your tormentors, who said to you, ‘Lie down, so we may walk over you.’ You have made your back like the ground and like a street for passersby.


Now that they have eaten the flesh of my people, stripped their skin off from them, and smashed their bones to bits, they cut it up like flesh in a pot, or like meat within a caldron.
