Even if He slays me, I will wait for Him; I will surely defend my ways before Him.


as water wears away stones and torrents wash away the soil, so You destroy a person’s hope.


He tears me down on every side until I am gone; He uproots my hope like a tree.


Is not your piety your confidence, the integrity of your ways your hope?


“What is my strength, that I should hope? What is my end, that I should endure?


My days fly faster than a weaver’s shuttle and come to an end without hope.


I said: “In the prime of my life, I am to enter the gates of Sheol. I am deprived of the rest of my years.”


So I said, “My endurance has perished, and my hope from Adonai.”


Then He said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say: ‘Our bones are dried up; our hope is lost; we are cut off—by ourselves.’
