“At least there is hope for a tree— if it is cut down it will sprout again, and its shoots will not cease.


I despise it; I would not live forever. Leave me alone, for my days are a vapor.


Will You never look away from me, or let me alone until I swallow my spittle?


Hear my prayer, Adonai, and listen to my cry— do not keep silent at my tears. For with You I am an outsider, a sojourner, as all my fathers were.


But now Adonai has spoken, saying: “Within three years (as with the years of a hired worker), the glory of Moab will be disgraced; for all his large population, the remnant will be very small and feeble.”
