the word of Adonai came to Jeremiah in Tahpanhes, saying,


Thus says Adonai: “Soon, I will give Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of them who seek his life, just as I gave King Zedekiah of Judah into the hand of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, his enemy who was seeking his life.”


“Now you, son of man, take a brick and lay it before you. Engrave on it a city, Jerusalem.


“Yet I have been Adonai your God, since the land of Egypt. I will yet again make you dwell in tents, as in the days of the moed.


Draw water for a siege. Strengthen your fortifications! Go into the mud and tread mortar. Take hold of the brick mold.
