so that they may offer pleasing sacrifices to the God of heaven and pray for the life of the king and his sons.


Everything that the God of heaven has required, let it be done with diligence for the House of the God of heaven. For why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?


Pray for the peace of Jerusalem— “May those who love you be at peace!


Then the officials said to the king: “This man should now be put to death, since he demoralizes the men of war remaining in this city as well as all the people, by speaking such words to them. For this man is not seeking the shalom of this people, but calamity.”


Therefore say, thus says Adonai Elohim, “Though I removed them far away, among the nations, though I scattered them among the countries, yet for a little while I was a sanctuary for them in the countries where they have gone.”


it is you, O king! For you have grown great and mighty. Your greatness reaches to heaven, and your authority extends to the end of the earth.


the king exclaimed, “Is this not the great Babylon that I have built as the royal residence by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?”


Let every person submit himself to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist are put in place by God.


Therefore it is necessary to be in submission—not only because of punishment but also because of conscience.
