“Moreover, you also know what Joab son of Zeruiah did to me—what he did to the two commanders of the armies of Israel, to Abner son of Ner and Amasa son of Jether, whom he killed, shedding the blood of war in peacetime, and putting the blood of war on his waistband and on his sandals on his feet.


He loosens the bonds of the kings, and binds a loincloth around their waists.


He pours contempt on nobles and loosens the belts of the mighty.


For who is God, except Adonai? And who is a Rock, except our God?


Adonai reigns—He is robed in majesty! Adonai has robed and armed Himself with strength. Yes, the world is firmly established—un­shakable.


Then you will walk on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble.


Also righteousness will be the belt around His loins, and faithfulness the belt around His waist.


Thus says Adonai to His anointed, Cyrus, whose right hand I have grasped, to subdue nations before him, to loose the belts of kings, to open doors before him so that gates may not be shut.


I am Adonai—there is no other. Besides Me there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not known Me,
