Nation was crushed by nation and city by city, for God troubled them with every kind of distress.


The people will oppress one another— each one by his fellow, each one by his neighbor. The child will be insolent to the aged, and dishonorable to the honorable.


Nations have heard of your shame, and your outcry fills the earth. For warrior stumbles over warrior— both fall down together.”


Do not be faint-hearted, or be intimidated by the rumor heard in the land— one year one rumor comes, next year, another rumor. Yet violence will be in the land, with ruler against ruler.
