My heart’s desire is to make you into a great nation, to bless you, to make your name great so that you may be a blessing.


You are the sons of the prophets and also of the covenant that God cut with your fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘In your seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.’


For the promise to Abraham or to his seed—to become heir of the world—was not through law, but through the righteousness based on trust.


who are Israelites. To them belong the adoption and the glory and the covenants and the giving of the Torah and the Temple service and the promises.


Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. It doesn’t say, “and to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “and to your seed,” who is the Messiah.


These all died in faith without receiving the things promised—but they saw them and welcomed them from afar, and they confessed that they were strangers and sojourners on the earth.


By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac. Yes, he who had received the promises was offering up his one and only son—


For this Melechizedek was king of Salem, kohen of God Most High. He met Abraham returning from the defeat of the kings and blessed him,


Now it is beyond dispute that the lesser is blessed by the greater.
