But the dove did not find a resting place for the sole of her foot. She returned to him in the ark because water covered the surface of the whole land. He stretched out his hand and he took her, and brought her to him into the ark.


But the eyes of the wicked will fail, and escape will elude them; their only hope is their dying breath.”


Awake, awake! Stand up, Jerusalem! From Adonai’s hand you have drunk the cup of His fury, the chalice of reeling that you have drained to the dregs.


“There is no shalom,” says my God “for the wicked.”


Behold, My servants will sing for joy with a happy heart, but you will cry from pain of heart, and wail out of a broken spirit.


Judah is gone into exile under affliction and great servitude. She dwells among the nations. She finds no resting place. All her pursuers have overtaken her in the midst of her distress.


Give them a distraught heart. May Your curse be on them.


Because of this our heart is faint, for these things our eyes are dim,


then I will do the following to you in return. I will appoint terror over you, wasting disease and fever that will dim the eyes and cause the soul to pine away. You will sow your seed in vain, because your enemies will eat it.


“As for those who remain, I will bring weakness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies, so that the sound of a driven leaf will put them to flight, and they will flee as one flees from the sword and fall, even when no one is pursuing.


If they should go into captivity before their enemies, from there I will command the sword to slay them. I will set My eyes upon them for calamity and not for prosperity.”


I heard, and my belly trembled. My lips quivered at the sound. Decay comes into my bones. I tremble where I stand, since I must wait quietly for a day of distress to come up against the people who will invade us.


But all these things are only the beginning of birth pains.


People will lose heart from fear and anticipation of what is overtaking the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.


Let their eyes be darkened so they do not see, and bend their back continually.”
