So Adonai sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning until the appointed time, so that 70,000 men of the people died from Dan to Beersheba.

Joab son of Zeruiah was commander over the army; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was recorder;


So David told Joab and the leaders of the people, “Go, count Israel from Beersheba to Dan. Then bring me a report so I may know their number.”


But when the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon were sent to him to inquire about the wonder that had happened in the land, God left him alone to test him, to know all that was in his heart.


A man’s pride will bring him low, but a humble spirit will gain honor.
