If you mistreat my daughters, and if you take wives besides my daughters, though no one is with us, look! God is the witness between you and me.”


“Whoever speaks to you,” the king said, “bring him to me and he shall not touch you anymore.”


Then the woman said, “Please, let your handmaid speak a word to my lord the king.” “Say on,” he said.


Then the king said to Joab, “Behold now, I will do this thing. So go, bring the young man Absalom back.”


Then Solomon said, “If he shows himself a worthy man, then not a hair of him will fall to the ground. But if wickedness is found in him, he shall die.”


You will swear, ‘As Adonai lives!’ in truth, in justice and in righteousness. The nations will bless themselves in Him and in Him they will glory.”


The blood avenger himself may put the murderer to death. When he finds him, he is to kill him.

But the people said to Saul, “Must Jonathan die? It was he who brought about this great deliverance in Israel! Far be it! As Adonai lives, not a hair of his head will fall to the ground! For he has worked with God this day.” So the people rescued Jonathan and he did not die.


Then Jonathan said to David, “Go in the shalom that we both have sworn to each other in the Name of Adonai saying: ‘May Adonai be between me and you, and between my offspring and your offspring, forever.’”


Saul vowed to her by Adonai saying, “As Adonai lives, no punishment will come on you for this thing.”
