Then his servant Zimri, commander of half his chariotry, conspired against him while he was in Tirzah, making himself drunk in the house of Arza, who was in charge of the palace in Tirzah.


“Adonai has also spoken about Jezebel saying: ‘The dogs will devour Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.


Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyelids.


All of a sudden, a woman meets him, dressed as a prostitute and with a cunning heart.


And you, O desolate one, what will you do? Though you dress in scarlet, though you adorn yourself with gold ornaments though you enlarge your eyes with paint—in vain you make yourself beautiful— your lovers despise you, they seek your life.


“Furthermore, they sent for men who come from far away. A messenger was sent to them, and look, they came! For them you bathed, painted your eyes and decked yourself with jewelry.


Sigh silently, do not observe mourning for the dead, keep your turban fastened, and keep your sandals on your feet. Do not cover your upper lip or eat the bread of mourners.”


Don’t let your beauty be external—braiding the hair and wearing gold jewelry or fine clothes.
