Afterward Elisha returned to Gilgal. Now there was famine in the land. As the sons of the prophets were sitting before him, he said to his servant, “Put on the large pot and boil stew for the sons of the prophets.”


The king of Aram said, “Go now, and I will send a letter to the king of Israel.” So he departed and took with him ten talents of silver, 6,000 pieces of gold, and ten changes of clothes.


Then Elisha said, “Hear the word of Adonai. Thus says Adonai: Tomorrow about this time a measure of fine flour will sell for a shekel and two measures of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria.”


Also you are to observe the Feast of Harvest, the firstfruits of your labors that you sow in the field, as well as the Feast of the Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather your crops from the field.


All the finest olive oil, the finest new wine and grain they give to Adonai from their firstfruits, I have given them to you.


All the firstfruits of the land that they bring to Adonai will be for yours. Anyone who is clean in your house may eat it.


So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves, which were left over by those who had finished eating.


“There’s a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish—but what’s that for so many?”


If we sowed spiritual things into you, is it too much if we reap material things from you?


Now let the one who is taught the word share all good things with his teacher.


There you are to bring your burnt offerings and your sacrifices, your tithes, the offering of your hand, your vow and freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herd and of your flock.

So he passed through the hill country of Ephraim and passed through the land of Shalishah, but they did not find them. Then they passed through the land of Shaalim, but they were not there. Then he passed through the land of Benjamin, but still did not find them.


Then said Saul to his servant, “But look, if we go, what would we bring the man? For the bread is gone from our sacks, and there is nothing to bring to the man of God as a present. What do we have?”
