Now he walked in the way of the house of Ahab and did what was evil in Adonai’s eyes, as the house of Ahab had done—for he was a son-in-law of the house of Ahab.


Ahaziah was 22 years old when he became king and he reigned in Jerusalem one year. His mother’s name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri.


He did evil in the sight of Adonai, like the house of Ahab, for they were his counselors after his father’s death—to his destruction.


Now after the death of Jehoiada, the chiefs of Judah came and bowed down to the king. Then the king listened to them.


For the sons of wicked Athaliah had broken into the House of God, and had even used all the sacred things of the House of Adonai for the Baalim .
