And Adonai said: ‘Who will entice Ahab king of Israel to go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?’ Then one said this and another said that,


So now, behold, Adonai has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these prophets of yours and Adonai has decreed disaster against you.”


Then Adonai said to the satan, “Everything he has is in your hand. Only do not extend your hand against him!” So the satan departed from the presence of Adonai.


Adonai said to the satan, “Very well, he is in your hand—only spare his life!”


How he loved cursing—may it fall on him! He had no pleasure in blessing— may it be far from him!


You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks lies he is just being himself—for he is a liar and the father of lies.


We are from God; whoever knows God listens to us, but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
