There Benjamin, the youngest, is leading them, there the throng of Judah’s princes, there the princes of Zebulun, there the princes of Naphtali.


When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling. He exalted himself in Israel, but he became guilty through Baal, and died.


For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”


This favor was given to me, the very least of His kedoshim, to proclaim to the Gentiles the endless riches of the Messiah


But certain worthless men said, “How can this one save us?” So they despised him and brought him no present. But he kept silent.


Kish was Saul’s father, and Abner’s father was Ner son of Abiel.


Then Samuel said, “Isn’t it true, though you were insignificant in your own eyes, that you were made head of the tribes of Israel? Adonai anointed you king over Israel!


But David replied to Saul, “Who am I, and what is my life or my father’s family in Israel, that I should become the king’s son-in-law?”


So Saul’s courtiers whispered these words in David’s ears. But David said, “Is it a light thing to you becoming the king’s son-in-law, considering that I am a poor man and of little account?”


Then Samuel took Saul and his servant and brought them into the hall, and gave them a place at the head of the guests, who numbered about 30 people.
