The king answered the people harshly. He rejected the counsel the elders had given him,


But he rejected the counsel the elders had given him, instead consulting with the young men who grew up with him and stood before him.


A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.


If a ruler’s spirit rises up against you, do not leave your post, for composure allays great offences.
