“Please, let the king remember Adonai your God,” she said, “so that the avenger of blood does not destroy any more, so they won’t destroy my son.” “As Adonai lives,” he said, “not one hair of your son will fall to the ground.”


So it was reported to Solomon: “Behold, Adonijah is afraid of King Solomon, for look, he grasped the horns of the altar, saying, ‘Let King Solomon swear to me first that he will not put his servant to death with the sword.’”


So King Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. He came and prostrated himself before King Solomon, and Solomon said to him: “Go to your home.”


He does not expect to escape from darkness; he is destined for the sword.


Righteousness guards one who walks in integrity, but wickedness overthrows the sinner.


The righteous one considers the house of the wicked, throwing the wicked down to their ruin.


But even the hairs of your head are all numbered.


Yet not a hair of your head will be lost.


Therefore, I urge you to take some food—for this is for your survival, since not one of you will lose a hair from his head.”


But the people said to Saul, “Must Jonathan die? It was he who brought about this great deliverance in Israel! Far be it! As Adonai lives, not a hair of his head will fall to the ground! For he has worked with God this day.” So the people rescued Jonathan and he did not die.
