“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint, dill, and cumin, yet you have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy, and faith. These you ought to have done without neglecting the others.


Therefore observe and do all that they tell you to observe. But do not do what they do, for they say things and do not do them.


But Jesus said, “Woe to you lawyers as well! For you burden people with burdens that are hard to bear, but you yourselves do not touch the burdens with even one of your fingers.


Now then, why are you putting God to the test by placing a yoke on the neck of the disciples that neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear?


For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay upon you no further burden than these essentials:


For not even those who are circumcised keep the law, but they want you to be circumcised so that they can boast about your flesh.


For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.


But to the rest of you who are in Thyatira, who do not hold to this teaching and have not learned what some call the deep things of Satan—to you I say: I place no further burden upon you.
