He said to them, “Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him,


But if you had known what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless.


and said to him, “Do yoʋ hear what these children are saying?” Jesus said to them, “Yes, have you never read, ‘Out of the mouths of babies and nursing infants yoʋ have prepared praise’?”


Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures, ‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord's doing, and it is amazing in our eyes’?


For in the resurrection people neither marry nor are they given in marriage. Instead, they are like angels of God in heaven.


‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”


Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice,’ for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
