Moved with compassion, the master of that servant released him and forgave him the debt.


When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed and went and reported to their master all that had happened.


Should yoʋ not also have had mercy on yoʋr fellow servant, even as I had mercy on yoʋ?’


But his master answered him, ‘Yoʋ evil and lazy servant! Yoʋ knew, did yoʋ, that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I scattered no seed?


The king said to him, ‘I will condemn yoʋ by the words coming out of yoʋr own mouth, yoʋ evil servant. Yoʋ knew, did yoʋ, that I was a stern man, taking out what I did not put in, and reaping what I did not sow?


Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God.


For judgment is without mercy to anyone who has not shown mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.
