Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will fall away because of me this night. For it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’


Jesus said to them, “Can the bridegroom's attendants mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days are coming when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.


Jesus said to them, “Can the bridegroom's attendants fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them they cannot fast.


“No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. Otherwise, the garment's new patch pulls away from the old cloth, and a worse tear is made.


Then he said to the disciples, “The days will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it.


But those days are coming, and when the bridegroom is taken away from them, they will fast in those days.”


For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.”


Little children, I am with you for a little while longer. You will seek me, and just as I said to the Jews, now I say to you also, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’


I came from the Father and have come into the world, and now I am leaving the world and going to the Father.”


But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I do go, I will send him to you.


I will no longer remain in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to yoʋ. Holy Father, keep them in yoʋr name, which yoʋ have given me, so that they may be one, just as we are one.


But now I am coming to yoʋ, and I speak these things in the world so that they may have my joy made full within them.


He who has the bride is the bridegroom. But the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and listens for him, rejoices greatly at the bridegroom's voice. So this joy of mine has been made full.


After he said this, he was lifted up as they looked on, and a cloud took him out of their sight.


And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they entrusted them to the Lord in whom they had come to believe.


Heaven must receive him until the time comes for the restoration of all things, which God declared by the mouth of all his holy prophets long ago.


Do not deprive one another, except by mutual consent for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to fasting and prayer and then come together again so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.


I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy, because I promised you in marriage to one husband, to present you as a pure virgin to Christ.


I have endured labor and hardship, many sleepless nights, and hunger and thirst. I have often gone without food and have been cold due to a lack of sufficient clothing.


in beatings, in imprisonments, in riots, in labors, in sleepless nights, in hunger,


Let us rejoice and be glad and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.


Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven final plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show yoʋ the wife, the bride of the Lamb.”
