At that time they had a notorious prisoner named Barabbas.


Now at the feast Pilate would release one prisoner for the people, whomever they requested.


So the crowd cried out and began to ask Pilate to do what he had always done for them.


He released the man they had been asking for, who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, but he handed Jesus over to their will.
