Jesus answered them, “You are in error because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God.


‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”


Jesus answered them, “Is this not why you are in error, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God?


He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.”


For this reason Christ died and then rose and lived again, so that he might be Lord over both the dead and the living.


(just as it is written, “I have made yoʋ the father of many nations”). He is our father in the presence of the God in whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and calls into being what does not yet exist.


Therefore I was angry with that generation and said, ‘They always go astray in their hearts; they have not known my ways.’
