Where did John's authority to baptize come from? From heaven or from men?” So they discussed it among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say to us, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’


When the season for fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the farmers to receive his fruit.


Every day Jesus was teaching in the temple courts, but the chief priests and the scribes were seeking to destroy him, and so were the prominent leaders among the people.


So the owner of the vineyard said, ‘What should I do? I will send my beloved son; perhaps when they see him they will have respect for him.’


So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them?


Then the chief priests and the scribes wanted to arrest him at that very hour, for they knew he had spoken this parable against them, but they were afraid.


So they discussed it among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Why did you not believe him?’


and the chief priests and the scribes were looking for a way to get rid of Jesus quietly, for they were afraid of the people.


this man, who was delivered up by the deliberate plan and foreknowledge of God, you took and put to death, having him nailed to the cross by the hands of lawless men.


You put to death the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses.


Now if we are children, we are also heirs, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.


whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.
