From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised up.


Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures, ‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord's doing, and it is amazing in our eyes’?


“Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to the chief priests and scribes. They will condemn him to death and hand him over to the Gentiles.


Have you not read this Scripture: ‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone;


Then he began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again.


For he was teaching his disciples and telling them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered up into the hands of men, and they will kill him. Yet after he has been killed, he will rise on the third day.”


Then Jesus took the twelve aside and said to them, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled.


After flogging him, they will kill him, and on the third day he will rise again.”


and said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day,


saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and he must be killed and on the third day rise again.”


He came to his own, but his own people did not receive him.


This was to fulfill what had been spoken by Isaiah the prophet: “Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”
