When the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why is your teacher eating with tax collectors and sinners?”


But the Pharisees and the scribes grumbled, saying, “This man receives sinners and eats with them.”


Then the Jews led Jesus away from Caiaphas to the governor's headquarters. It was now early in the morning. They themselves did not go into the governor's headquarters so that they would not be defiled, but could eat the Passover.


So Peter invited them in and put them up for the night. The next day Peter went with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa accompanied him.


Peter said to them, “You know that it is forbidden for a Jewish man to keep company with or associate with a foreigner, but God has shown me that I should call no one defiled or unclean.


Therefore send to Joppa and ask for Simon, who is called Peter. He is staying by the sea in the house of a tanner named Simon. When he arrives, he will speak to yoʋ.’


So he gave orders to have them baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay on for a few days.


But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who is named as a brother if he is a fornicator or greedy, an idolater or a reviler, a drunkard or a swindler; do not even eat with such a man.


For he regularly ate with the Gentiles until certain men came from James. But when they came, he drew back and separated himself because he was afraid of the circumcision faction.


If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house, and do not greet him;
