Then he said to them, “Therefore every scribe that has been trained as a disciple for the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house who brings out of his treasure things new and old.”


Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures, ‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord's doing, and it is amazing in our eyes’?


He said to them, “How is it then that David, in the Spirit, calls him ‘Lord,’ saying,


How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen this way?”


But all this has taken place so that the Scriptures of the prophets would be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples left him and fled.


Jesus answered them, “Is this not why you are in error, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God?


For David himself said in the Holy Spirit, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand until I make yoʋr enemies a footstool for yoʋr feet.” ’


If he called them ‘gods,’ to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken),


For whoever does evil hates the light and does not come to the light, so that his works may not be exposed.
