If they sin against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not,) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captive unto the land of the enemy, far off or near;


O LORD, the God of Israel, thou art righteous; for we are left a remnant that is escaped, as it is this day: behold, we are before thee in our guiltiness; for none can stand before thee because of this.


How then can man be just with God? Or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?


Behold, even the moon hath no brightness, And the stars are not pure in his sight:


Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram: Against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God.


I am clean, without transgression; I am innocent, neither is there iniquity in me:


For Job hath said, I am righteous, And God hath taken away my right:


Shall mortal man be more just than God? Shall a man be more pure than his Maker?


If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?


And enter not into judgement with thy servant; For in thy sight shall no man living be justified.


because by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for through the law cometh the knowledge of sin.
