Then said Joab, I may not tarry thus with thee. And he took three darts in his hand, and thrust them through the heart of Absalom, while he was yet alive in the midst of the oak.


A sound of terrors is in his ears; In prosperity the spoiler shall come upon him:


His archers compass me round about, He cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; He poureth out my gall upon the ground.


Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, And shall chase him at his heels.


He shall be rooted out of his tent wherein he trusteth; And he shall be brought to the king of terrors.


Terrors overtake him like waters; A tempest stealeth him away in the night.


For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, The poison whereof my spirit drinketh up: The terrors of God do set themselves in array against me.


If a man turn not, he will whet his sword; He hath bent his bow, and made it ready.


How are they become a desolation in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors.


I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up: While I suffer thy terrors I am distracted.


Knowing therefore the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, but we are made manifest unto God; and I hope that we are made manifest also in your consciences.


If I whet my glittering sword, And mine hand take hold on judgement; I will render vengeance to mine adversaries, And will recompense them that hate me.
