then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all peoples:


Wherefore the wrath of the LORD was upon Judah and Jerusalem, and he hath delivered them to be tossed to and fro, to be an astonishment, and an hissing, as ye see with your eyes.


When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, Thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: Surely every man is vanity. Selah


We are become a reproach to our neighbours, A scorn and derision to them that are round about us.


With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgements are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.


Therefore I will profane the princes of the sanctuary, and I will make Jacob a curse, and Israel a reviling.


and I will bring an everlasting reproach upon you, and a perpetual shame which shall not be forgotten.

All that pass by clap their hands at thee; they hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying: Is this the city that men called The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth?


All thine enemies have opened their mouth wide against thee; they hiss and gnash the teeth; they say, We have swallowed her up; certainly this is the day that we looked for; we have found, we have seen it.


And I will bring you forth out of the midst thereof, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgements among you.


and I will set my face against that man, and will make him an astonishment, for a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.


And they shall burn thine houses with fire, and execute judgements upon thee in the sight of many women; and I will cause thee to cease from playing the harlot, and thou shalt also give no hire any more.


before thy wickedness was discovered, as at the time of the reproach of the daughters of Syria, and of all that are round about her, the daughters of the Philistines, which do despite unto thee round about.

Thus will I execute judgements in Egypt: and they shall know that I am the LORD.


when I shall send upon them the evil arrows of famine, that are for destruction, which I will send to destroy you; and I will increase the famine upon you, and will break your staff of bread;


therefore thus saith the Lord GOD Behold, I, even I, am against thee; and I will execute judgements in the midst of thee in the sight of the nations.


And I will bring the land into desolation: and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it.


The LORD is a jealous God and avengeth; the LORD avengeth and is full of wrath; the LORD taketh vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies.


Now these things happened unto them by way of example; and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages are come.


And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all the peoples whither the LORD shall lead thee away.


and they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever:
