And the angel of the LORD said unto Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him unto the king.


I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou art afraid of man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass;


Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye dismayed at their revilings.


For wickedness burneth as the fire; it devoureth the briers and thorns: yea, it kindleth in the thickets of the forest, and they roll upward in thick clouds of smoke.


Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at them, lest I dismay thee before them.


Be not afraid because of them: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.


Then said they, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.


They are all grievous revolters, going about with slanders; they are brass and iron: they all of them deal corruptly.


And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD Set on the caldron, set it on, and also pour water into it:


And there shall be no more a pricking brier unto the house of Israel, nor a grieving thorn of any that are round about them, that did despite unto them; and they shall know that I am the Lord GOD


But I truly am full of power by the spirit of the LORD, and of judgement, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.


The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is worse than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen, even thy visitation, is come; now shall be their perplexity.


And be not afraid of them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.


Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall in any wise hurt you.


Or if he shall ask an egg, will he give him a scorpion?


And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them which kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.


Now when they beheld the boldness of Peter and John, and had perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.


But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you rather than unto God, judge ye:

and in nothing affrighted by the adversaries: which is for them an evident token of perdition, but of your salvation, and that from God;


For God gave us not a spirit of fearfulness; but of power and love and discipline.


By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.


But and if ye should suffer for righteousness' sake, blessed are ye: and fear not their fear, neither be troubled;


And they have tails like unto scorpions, and stings; and in their tails is their power to hurt men five months.
