Do not say, “I will repay evil”; wait for the Lord, and he will help you.


Do not say, “I will do to him as he has done to me; I will pay the man back for what he has done.”


Therefore thus says the Lord: “Behold, I will plead your cause and take vengeance for you. I will dry up her sea and make her fountain dry;


“Thus says the Lord God: Because Edom acted revengefully against the house of Judah and has grievously offended in taking vengeance upon them,


You shall not take vengeance or bear any grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.


But I say to you, Do not resist one who is evil. But if any one strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also;


Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.


Repay no one evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.


for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain; he is the servant of God to execute his wrath on the wrongdoer.


and give no opportunity to the devil.


Vengeance is mine, and recompense, for the time when their foot shall slip; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and their doom comes swiftly.


“Praise his people, O you nations; for he avenges the blood of his servants, and takes vengeance on his adversaries, and makes expiation for the land of his people.”
