And the Lord said, “I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and I will cast off this city which I have chosen, Jerusalem, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.”


“Will the Lord spurn for ever, and never again be favorable?


For the Lord will not forsake his people; he will not abandon his heritage;


My God will cast them off, because they have not hearkened to him; they shall be wanderers among the nations.


He will come and destroy those tenants, and give the vineyard to others.” When they heard this, they said, “God forbid!”


“I am a Jew, born at Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up in this city at the feet of Gamali-el, educated according to the strict manner of the law of our fathers, being zealous for God as you all are this day.


“My manner of life from my youth, spent from the beginning among my own nation and at Jerusalem, is known by all the Jews.


So I ask, have they stumbled so as to fall? By no means! But through their trespass salvation has come to the Gentiles, so as to make Israel jealous.


By no means! Let God be true though every man be false, as it is written, “That thou mayest be justified in thy words, and prevail when thou art judged.”


For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brethren, my kinsmen by race.


Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they descendants of Abraham? So am I.

For the Lord will not cast away his people, for his great name's sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make you a people for himself.
