Revelation 20:4 - Revised Standard Version

4 Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom judgment was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony to Jesus and for the word of God, and who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life, and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, for ever and ever.’


until the Ancient of Days came, and judgment was given for the saints of the Most High, and the time came when the saints received the kingdom.


And the kingdom and the dominion and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High; their kingdom shall be an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey them.’


As I looked, thrones were placed and one that was ancient of days took his seat; his raiment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool; his throne was fiery flames, its wheels were burning fire.


“Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes.


Jesus said to them, “Truly, I say to you, in the new world, when the Son of man shall sit on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.


And then many will fall away, and betray one another, and hate one another.


But when Herod heard of it he said, “John, whom I beheaded, has been raised.”


And immediately the king sent a soldier of the guard and gave orders to bring his head. He went and beheaded him in the prison,


And they asked him, “Why do the scribes say that first Elijah must come?”


and he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.”


and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. You will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”


that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.


Yet a little while, and the world will see me no more, but you will see me; because I live, you will live also.


For if their rejection means the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance mean but life from the dead?


and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.


if we endure, we shall also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us;


who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw.


I John, your brother, who share with you in Jesus the tribulation and the kingdom and the patient endurance, was on the island called Patmos on account of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.


But after the three and a half days a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood up on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them.


Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign for ever and ever.”


And I will grant my two witnesses power to prophesy for one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.”


And when they have finished their testimony, the beast that ascends from the bottomless pit will make war upon them and conquer them and kill them,


And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.


And the smoke of their torment goes up for ever and ever; and they have no rest, day or night, these worshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name.”


And I saw what appeared to be a sea of glass mingled with fire, and those who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name, standing beside the sea of glass with harps of God in their hands.


The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is to ascend from the bottomless pit and go to perdition; and the dwellers on earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, will marvel to behold the beast, because it was and is not and is to come.


He who conquers and who keeps my works until the end, I will give him power over the nations,


Blessed and holy is he who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and they shall reign with him a thousand years.


And night shall be no more; they need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they shall reign for ever and ever.


He who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I myself conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.


Round the throne were twenty-four thrones, and seated on the thrones were twenty-four elders, clad in white garments, with golden crowns upon their heads.


When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne;


saying, “Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God upon their foreheads.”
